Since childhood I have thought I heard music from somewhere outside my body, especially at night while I’m in bed. I used to think I could hear organs or church music. I never told anyone—I had no idea anyone else had this occurance.
When the music/sounds seem to come from outside your head, they are defined as hallucinations. The good news is that if those sounds are bothersome, you may be able to reduce or manage them with certain drugs. The best kind of doctor to consult would be a psychiatrist.
I’m told this is fairly common, but, like you, I thought I was the only one with this experience. (Though my sounds are clearly coming from inside my head.)
